Top of the table clash

The Christmas mood is in full swing but for those who love the game of football still have plenty of entertainment to indulge on. It cannot come at a better time than this one. Premier league log leaders TAFIC welcome Gaborone United in a clash where three points is more important than anything else. There lies a single point between the two clubs and a meeting between the two on Saturday afternoon feels like a tone-setter for the season. Whoever wins will go to Christmas break on top and the strength of their squad will have, in the meantime, passed the test of time. TAFIC is the only side that has won many games, and their defensive unit is in equal strength with their opponent, both have conceded only 6 goals.

Top Scorers stand out

The 2024-25  FNB premiership season is shaping up to be an electrifying battle, with top talents vying for the prestigious golden boot trophy awarded to the league’s highest goal scorer.

As the competition heats up, all eyes are on familiar faces like Thatayaone Kgamanyane and Jean Lwamba who are once again proving their mettle on the pitch. Kgamanyane after two good seasons with Gaborone United, is expected to continue to dominate the scoring charts, using his experience and clinical finishing to lead his team’s attack. However, he is given a competition of his lifetime by TAFIC’s marksman, Lwamba. Both have 7 goals after 11 rounds of games, and nobody is willing to blink first.

Chadibe FC fights for redemption

One of the two sides winless in FNB premiership is Chadibe FC. However, they head to Selibe Phikwe to play against Nico United with a spring in their step after a late fightback salvaged a point against power houses, Jwaneng Galaxy. Having hired and fired coaches, the technical team will hope that another draw will prove a turning point, and all have stayed upbeat despite a demoralising start. Its not easy for a side that got promoted this season, but they hope Nico United is not a difficult opponent to face.

Will Rollers coach stake his claim?

The early stages of coach Abdelaziz Karkache‘s Township Rollers career are somewhat of a struggle. It is not his fault he was welcomed in the dying embers of Mogomotsi Mpote’s reign when neither performances nor dominance were good enough. He however, commands much respect across the African continent and therefore, expectations are s too high that he will tilt the landscapes for Township Rollers .It is too early to say he is learning, on Sunday against low lying BDF XI , Rollers could have dominated all to the way but faltered in the end. There were moments his team provided plenty of energy and bite. It should have been a morale-boosting game the coach required but he knows Orapa United who continue to get more experience and exposure from the CAF confederation games.
