Block Buster Affairs this Weekend

Week 4 of Botswana Premier league games can never have come at a better time than this. One of the most significant head-to-head battles this weekend will be witnessed at Jwaneng where, premier league champions Jwaneng Galaxy welcome Township Rollers, a club that appears to have found swagger and won country wide appeal this season. The Blues, after clinching interesting signings this season, have beaten everything that comes their way. To be appropriate to their style of play, they are swashbuckling and are in a good mood to torment Jwaneng Galaxy once more.

Since Galaxy’s promotion in 2015, Rollers has never found it difficult to move past them. The only time the blues lost to Galaxy was in 2018 and it never happened again. Rollers are taking a side that is deeply wounded after a shock defeat away to newly promoted side, Matebele. A win for the Galaxy star will mean that the defending champions will be equal on points with Rollers who at this stage still enjoy a better goal difference. But should Rollers continue to spell down their dominance, Galaxy may find it a high mountain to climb thereafter.

Until now, Rollers are leading the pack, having accumulated 9 points while Galaxy are 3 points shy away. The game will be produced online by Vision View TV and will give the home broadcast Btv a feed.

Elsewhere, Orapa United welcomes the ever-improving Gaborone United at Itekeng Stadium. It’s a game everybody within the football fraternity will want to watch. GU who have only won FA cup competition last season but failed to defend the league title collectively breathed a sigh of relief when the ever reliable player Thatayaone Kgamanyane netted two goals  last weekend against premier league rookies, VTM. They did not start well and their goalscoring problems cannot be said to be behind them until they do it time and time again. Orapa United too, has not come out of the blocks well. It might be that coach, Tawurayi Mangwiro is suffering early second season syndromes but at home the team has had a better play and created lot of chances.

There is everything to play for in this encounter. GU will want to hold on to their second spot while Orapa are eyeing to topple The Reds.

To this far end, everyone has heard about the story of Matebele FC. They, without doubt, have taken the premier league by surprise. It is why they are amongst the seven teams to be defeated after a round of three games.  Once again, the cameras of Vision View TV will be ready to livestream this interesting fixture where VTM will wait desperately for Matebele.

This is the ideal fixture for Matebele to have next, and an unmissable opportunity to win back-to-back Premier League matches in their maiden appearance. VTM have accrued only one point from their first three matches and look worryingly poor in front of goal. They have scored once but are however optimistic that they will turn the corner against a club they competed with at the National First Division last season.

Elsewhere, TAFIC welcomes ailing Morupule Wanderers at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium while Nico United lock horns with struggling Masitaoka outfit. At Sowa, the local side are eager to clinch their first win of the season as they welcome  Security Systems in their own back yard. There is also a low lying battle between the army side, a fight that is anticipated to boil down at Lobatse Sports Complex. In terms of strength and courage, the two are equal and one will wonder where the pendulum will swing. It’s the premier league, nothing is ever obvious!
