Kebatho earns Zebras call up

Botswana Premier League top goal scorer Omaatla Kebatho’ scintillating scoring prowess has caught the eye of Senior National Team Coach Mogomotsi Mpote.

Kebatho, who has scored 15 goals in 18 games, forms part of the national team squad that prepares to face Equatorial Guinea in a back-to-back tie on the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.

Dunga as he is known by legions of Orapa United followers, a club he seeks to write his name into folklore, is expected to bring the necessary challenge and competitive edge to The Zebras frontline attack usually led and dominated by Tumisang Teenage Orebonye, who plies his trade in Algeria.

It is an impressive season for Kebatho who has really outdone himself to this end. Last season alone, Kebatho had scored a paltry 5 goals in as many games.

His rise in performance is attributed to a number of things, one major improvement is how the player conducts himself outside the field of play.

Whether he will ultimately win the golden boot is yet to be seen, but his nearest challenger in Thabang Sesisnyi cannot be taken for granted. Sesinyi won the race last season and is only three goals shy from leapfrogging Kebatho.
